📱 Installing on Android
SMS Remote Relay is distributed directly from this website rather than through the Google Play Store.
Because of this, Android may display one or more security warnings during installation. This is normal for apps distributed directly by the developer instead of through Google Play.
1. Download the APK
After logging in, tap Download APK.
The file will normally be saved in your Downloads folder.
2. Open the APK
Tap the downloaded file to begin installation.
Your phone may display messages such as:
- "For your security, your phone isn't allowed to install unknown apps."
- "Install unknown apps is disabled."
- "Blocked for your protection."
These messages simply mean Android has detected that the app was downloaded directly rather than from Google Play.
3. Allow installation
Tap Settings if prompted.
Enable Allow from this source (sometimes called Install unknown apps).
The wording varies slightly between phone manufacturers and Android versions.
This permission only allows the app you're currently using (for example Chrome or the Files app) to install this APK. It does not permanently reduce your phone's security.
4. Install the app
Return to the installer and tap Install.
Installation usually takes only a few seconds.
5. Google Play Protect
Some phones may display another warning because the app was downloaded directly rather than through Google Play.
If you downloaded the APK from this website, this warning is expected. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue with the installation.
Depending on your phone, you may need to tap More details before the option to continue is shown.
6. First time you open the app
The first time you open SMS Remote Relay, Android will ask for permission to:
- Send SMS messages
- Receive SMS messages
These permissions are essential because SMS Remote Relay controls your relay controller by sending and receiving SMS messages.
Tap Allow when prompted.

- Does not require a Google account.
- Does not create an online account.
- Does not collect personal information.
- Does not require an Internet connection to control your relay.
- Communicates directly with your relay controller using SMS.
